On March 1, Bagdat Mussin, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, held a round table discussion in Astana with representatives of leading IT exporters, the press service of the Ministry reports.

Agenda: The meeting addressed current issues concerning Astana Hub residents and proposals for the ongoing development of Kazakhstan's IT ecosystem.

Outcomes: During the discussion, Minister Mussin emphasized the significance of exporting IT services and highlighted key issues related to the IT market's development. The participants identified the next steps for ensuring sustained growth.

The Big Picture: Kazakhstan's IT exports have demonstrated remarkable growth to date.

  • In 2020, the country's IT exports reached approximately $30 million, and projections for 2023 suggest that it surpassed $500 million. This signifies a nearly 20-fold increase in IT exports over three years.

  • Addressing the nation, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined the goal of elevating the export of IT services to $1 billion by 2026, aiming to position Kazakhstan as a central hub for digital nomads. He acknowledged the substantial progress made in the IT sector over recent years, attracting major global companies and investors while fostering favorable conditions for local startups.
