During the visit to Germany, Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapaev met with Manfred Grundke, a member of the supervisory board of GP Günter Papenburg AG. The parties discussed subsoil use in Kazakhstan and joint ventures between the two nations, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry’s press service.

GP Günter Papenburg AG, Knauf Gruppe, Roxtec, and ITEL Deutsches Lithiuminstitut GmbH formed a consortium to develop and produce lithium using Kazakhstan’s deposits. The Ministry reports that the collaborative effort signals new opportunities for the country's industrial development.

The parties agreed to establish a working group to explore cooperation areas in lithium mining and its use, and potentially develop a corresponding roadmap.

Established in 1963, GP Günter Papenburg AG initially operated as a building materials trader. Today the company has 61 subsidiaries and production units. Its diverse range of activities spans raw material extraction, building material production, construction, and logistics, establishing it as a prominent player in the market.
