On February 13, Kazakhstan’s Digital Family Card project received the “GovTech Prize” award in the category of Inclusive Digital Transformation at the World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai. “The GovTech Prize” is presented to government entities, central or local, worldwide to recognize creative and innovative solutions that address pressing challenges and/or create exceptional government service experiences, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Digital and Space Ministry.
Launched on January 1, 2023, the Digital Family Card is a scoring model analyzing data from over 40 state databases. Every family is assigned a well-being score from “A” to “E”, the latter corresponding to a family in a critical life situation. The model helps the government proactively provide families with social welfare based on tracking and analyzing over 100 indicators. The mechanism involves sending an SMS message to a potential welfare candidate, and making a correspondent money transfer to a bank account if the candidate is approved.
The GovTech Prize forms part of the UAE Government Service Excellence Program (EGSEP), established in 2014. This initiative is designed to commend government agencies globally for their inventive and creative solutions, recognizing achievements that address pressing issues and elevate governmental expertise, thereby improving the overall quality of life for the population.
This year, the “GovTech Prize” recognized innovations in creating human-centric government services in four categories: Educational Services, Healthcare Services, AI-Powered Government Services, and Inclusive Digital Transformation.
