Number of Injured Grows to 44 after Earthquake in Almaty

Ten children and 34 adults sought medical assistance for various injuries

Since 1 a.m. January 23, forty-four people in Almaty have requested medical help for injuries of varying severity, such as head injuries, pinched nerves, and limb strains, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Healthcare.

Among the patients, 34 adults were admitted to city hospitals, with three hospitalized and 31 referred for outpatient treatment. Additionally, ten children received medical assistance, with five being hospitalized and the remaining five receiving treatment on an outpatient basis.

All patients have received qualified medical care at the city's healthcare facilities.

The Almaty Department of Public Health reported that emergency medical services and all multi-profile hospitals, including specialized facilities, children's hospitals, and maternity organizations, operated in an enhanced mode throughout the night.

Last night, Almaty city experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 on the MPV scale.
