As a consequence of the earthquake, eight individuals sustained injuries in Almaty, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Health Department of the city. According to the information provided:
"Three people suffered injuries resulting from jumping from the 2nd and 3rd floors of residential buildings. Two of the victims were referred for outpatient treatment following examinations. The condition of the third patient is deemed serious, and they have been admitted to the hospital. Additionally, five individuals sustained injuries while evacuating their homes. Following the provision of all necessary medical assistance, they have been sent for ambulatory treatment," stated the press release.
The earthquake, occurring on January 23 at 00:09:02 Astana time (repeated at 00:42:32 - M2 in Almaty, and at 01:36:44 - not felt), had its epicenter located 264 km southeast of Almaty city, near the border of Kyrgyzstan and China.
