Kazakhstan's EAEU Trade Sees 3% Dip, Exports Surge 10%

In January-November 2023, the import volume decreased by 9.7%

From January to November 2023, the Republic of Kazakhstan witnessed a trade turnover with EAEU countries totaling $25,741.4 million, marking a nominal decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year, QazMonitor reports referring to data from the Bureau of National Statistics.

During this period, exports of goods reached $9,904.6 million, reflecting a notable increase of 10%, while imports amounted to $15,836.8 million, showing a decrease of 9.7%.

Within the overall foreign trade turnover between Kazakhstan and EAEU countries, Russia held the majority share at 91.6%, followed by Kyrgyzstan at 5%, Belarus at 3.3%, and Armenia at 0.2%.

When examining the composition of exports from EAEU countries, machinery, equipment, vehicles, devices, and apparatuses accounted for the largest share at 26.5%, closely followed by products from the chemical and related industries at 26%.

On the other hand, imports from EAEU countries were dominated by products of animal and plant origin, as well as finished food products, constituting 19.9% of the total, while metals and metal products accounted for 19.3%.
