Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection Yerzhan Birzhanov announces plans to cancel the requirement to pass the probation period for young employees in a briefing at the Central Communications Service, a correspondent of Kapital reports.

"We want to eliminate the concept of ‘probationary period’. Today’s labor law requires a probationary period at the end of which an employee can be fired. If we get rid of it, then, in the case that the employee meets the employer's requirements but needs additional training, the employer will have to provide proper training while retaining the employee."

For young employees, there are also plans to provide for the possibility of paying stipends if the employee resides in another region. "These are new initiatives, which will be developed as part of the amendments to the Labor Code," explained Yerzhan Birzhanov.

He added that about 40% of graduates of educational institutions do not work in their studied profession.

Currently, the Labor Code dictates a fixed time period for assessing a new employee's competence in the position, which is three months or 90 calendar days.
