Kazakhstan Dota 2 Team Became Champion at GEG2023 in Riyadh

The national esports team competed against teams from South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia to secure their victory

The national Dota 2 esports team became champion at the Global Esports Games 2023 in Riyadh, clinching gold in the grand finals against Team Malaysia with a score of 2:1, QazMonitor reports.

On December 11-16, the capital of Saudi Arabia hosted the Global Esports Games 2023, where eight national teams from Australia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, and Turkiye participated in arena battles.

On the first day, the national team competed against South Africa and won 2:0, securing a place in the semifinals dominantly. In the semifinals, they faced the tournament hosts, Team Saudi Arabia, and decisively defeated their opponents 2:0.

In the grand finals, the team faced Malaysia, encountering fierce competition as both teams were determined to win. The Best of Three series went in favor of the Kazakh national team, who secured a 2:1 victory.

"We tuned in for the win. We prepared for our games for a long time, and in the end, it brought the desired result. We wanted to win and proudly represent our country at all international tournaments," said the team’s coach, Abylaykhan “nevqdq” Murzagaliyev.

The Kazakh national team comprised the following roster:

  • Ilyas "Liru01-" Akhkubekov

  • Egor “egxrdemxn” Miller

  • Alexander "v1olent" Pak

  • Sadyr “v3ndetta” Salamat

  • Askar “Toshi” Zhumagulov

In addition, Kazakhstan was represented at the Global Esports Games 2023 by the PUBG: Mobile team, which managed to secure fourth place, trailing behind Ukraine, Thailand, and Brazil.
