Kazakhstan's Top Imports of Exotic Fruits in 2023

The country's main tangerine imports are fruits from China, Pakistan, and Turkiye

The State Revenue Committee has published statistics on citrus and exotic fruit imports for the January-October period. Kazakhstan imported about 51,969.9 tons of fruits worth $35,607.2 thousand, showing a period-over-period increase from 36,087.4 tons for $22,729.2 thousand in 2022, QazMonitor reports.

A major portion of imports falls into citrus fruits. For the ten months of 2023, the country imported 51,095.4 tons amounting to $34,579.8 thousand. This data reflects an increase compared to the same period in 2022 when citrus fruit imports were 15,882.5 tons valued at $12,878.0 thousand.

In citrus imports, tangerines take the lead with 44,356.7 tons of fruits imported worth $30,422.7 thousand, showing an increase from 29,965.4 tons worth $18,685.4 thousand for the ten months of 2022.

China is the main exporter of tangerines to Kazakhstan, with 20,002.1 tons for $17,411.2 thousand. Pakistan closely follows with 17,319.0 tons imported for $7,230.1 thousand, and Turkiye closes off the top three list with 5,945.9 tons for $4,835.2 thousand.

Oranges also occupy a significant portion of imports at 6,738.7 tons imported into the country for $4,157.1 thousand, showing an increase from 5,681.5 tons worth $3,242.7 thousand for the ten months of 2022.

Egypt is the main exporter of oranges to Kazakhstan, with 3,262.6 tons for $1,857.5 thousand. Iran comes in a close second with 2,281.5 tons imported for $1,426.5 thousand, and Turkiye once again closes off the top three with 499.0 tons for $355.6 thousand.

Furthermore, among other exotic fruits (dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, mangoes, and others), Kazakhstan has imported 874.5 tons for the cost of $1,027.4 thousand, almost doubling the volume of imports from 440.5 tons worth $801.1 thousand for the first ten months of 2022.

The main supplier is once again China with 812.5 tons for $898.6 thousand, followed by Peru with 19.7 tons worth $27.9 thousand, and Pakistan with 19.7 tons worth $27.0 thousand, closing the top three exporters.
