Kazakhstan plans to adopt Japan's experience in water treatment technologies and attract Japanese ocean scientists to work with the Research Institute of the Caspian Sea, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation reports.
The head of the ministry Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Kazakhstan Jun Yamada. The parties discussed potential cooperation in the development of the domestic water sector.
Yamada stressed that Japan is interested in long-term and full-scale cooperation with Kazakhstan. He said that Japanese water technologies companies want to implement projects in our country in such areas as water reuse. The Ambassador expressed readiness to assist in establishing contacts between the Ministry and Japanese businesses.
Minister Nurzhigitov, in turn, noted that the Ministry is interested in the Japanese experience of automation and digitalization of the water industry, and proposed to work together to improve the skills of Kazakh specialists by attracting experts and scientists from Japan.
In addition, the Minister said that Kazakhstan is interested in technologies for the purification of water bodies, citing as an example of successful cleaning of the largest in Japan Lake Biwa. Also, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov proposed to attract Japanese ocean scientists to work with the Research Institute of the Caspian Sea.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue discussing possible areas of cooperation.
