On November 29, the Ministers of Higher Education of Kazakhstan and Qatar, Sayasat Nurbek and Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, reached an agreement on academic cooperation in the development of AI in science and higher education at the World Innovation Summit for Education in Doha, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

In his speech, Nurbek noted the reforms carried out to improve national higher education and noted the ongoing digital transformation of Kazakhstan. The Science Ministry has already established a branch of Seoul National University of Science and Technology called the Higher School of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics in Kyzylorda. Currently, there are plans to open additional branches of foreign universities at a regional level.

“A lot has been achieved in the field of AI and digital development. As part of these efforts, branches are being established to transfer foreign technologies to Kazakhstan. They have been opened at Satbayev University, Yessenov University, Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, and other [regional] universities. [Also,] the Unified Platform of Higher Education will commence its operations. Satbayev University and D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University have already launched the Digital University pilot project,” said Nurbek.
