On November 20, Kazakhstan’s national football team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Slovenia in the final match of the European Championship 2024 qualifying round, QazMonitor reports.
Following 9 rounds, Kazakhstan’s national team, led by Magomed Adiev, secured third place in Group H with 18 points, requiring only one victory to clinch a spot in the 2024 European Championship.
Slovenia's Benjamin Šeško scored in the 41st minute from a penalty kick, and Kazakhstan's Ramazan Orazov equalized in the 48th minute with a right-flank cross. In the closing moments of the match, Benjamin Verbic scored for the Slovenian team, resulting in a final score of 2-1.
Despite this, Kazakhstan still has a chance to qualify for the European Championship through participation in the playoffs of the Nations League in March 2024. The national team will play Greece in a semifinal on March 21 and — if it wins — either Georgia or Luxembourg five days later.
