Kazakhstan finishes second at the 2023 World Robot Olympiad in Panama, trailing behind team Malaysia, QazMonitor reports.
On November 7-9 in Panama, three Kazakh teams secured medals at the 2023 World Robot Olympiad, winning silver and bronze in the Future Engineers category, and another bronze in the Robomission category. This year’s WRO, themed 'Connecting the World,' symbolized the teams' efforts in developing infrastructure and logistics for the digital industry and witnessed the participation of robotics enthusiasts from over 80 countries.
Furthermore, Robotek, the school of educational and sports robotics in Astana, has signed agreements with its peer schools and clubs in Azerbaijan, China, and the US to closely cooperate in advancing robotics and STEM education in Kazakhstan and globally. The school will now collaborate with Chasewood Learning, a well-known STEM education service center in the United States, Xingtai No. 19 Middle School in Chinese Hebei, and Azerbaijan Robotics Engineering Academy.
Claus Christensen, Secretary General of the World Robot Olympiad Association, highlighted Robotek’s Ozyq Urpaq project, which sets up free school clubs on robotics in Kazakh schools equipped with special rooms, thus promoting STEM education and robotics in the country. The project provides educational resources for schools and students and encourages children to engage in research and engineering activities.
