Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Vladimir Putin Hold Talks in Astana

Special attention was devoted to the development of interregional and cross-border cooperation

November 9, leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia engaged in narrow-format discussions following the XIX Forum of Interregional Cooperation, QazMonitor reports citing Akorda's press service.

President Tokayev highlighted the successful development of Kazakhstan-Russia cooperation across all sectors.

Over the last 3 years, the trade turnover has increased by more than 30%, and this positive trend continues. In the first 8 months of this year, mutual trade amounted to $17 billion, also a record figure. Industrial cooperation is dynamically evolving. Here's an interesting statistic: 143 projects totaling over $33 billion have been presented. Of these, 140 projects are being implemented on the territory of Kazakhstan.

He added that Russia is an undisputed leader in the number of foreign capital enterprises in Kazakhstan, with over 20,000 registered Russian companies. Direct investments from Russia have exceeded $20 billion, and in the last two years alone, approximately $3.5 billion has been invested. In turn, the volume of Kazakh investments has reached $6 billion, making it a mutual process.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that today's meeting in Astana provides a good opportunity to exchange views on the current situation in bilateral relations and explore future prospects.

The strategic partnership and allied relations between our countries are developing steadily and successfully. The figures speak volumes about this. We have excellent opportunities to meet our interests and help many of our partners in global markets. The key lies in using all the advantages of our cooperation to enhance these opportunities in the future. The day after tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the basic Treaty on Good-Neighborliness and Alliance in the 21st Century. It became a solid foundation for the development of our multifaceted friendly relations.

The Russian leader highly praised the constructive interaction between the two states on the international stage and close coordination within the EAEU, CSTO, CIS, UN, and SCO, with Kazakhstan assuming the chairmanship in July of this year. He also confirmed readiness to provide mutual support during Russia's chairmanship in BRICS and CIS in 2024, and Kazakhstan's chairmanship in CSTO.

During the talks, the heads of states affirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership, with specific attention given to further developing interregional and cross-border cooperation. The parties also delved into key aspects of collaboration in areas such as the oil and gas industry, engineering, energy, transportation and logistics, healthcare, and cultural-humanitarian ties.
