October 29 Declared as Day of National Mourning in Kazakhstan

This announcement was made by the President during a meeting with the families and relatives of the deceased miners

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the families and relatives of the deceased miners to express his condolences, the press service of Akorda reports.

The President emphasized that the circumstances of the accident will be thoroughly investigated, and necessary assistance will be provided to rescue the miners and support the families of both the injured and deceased.

The head of state highlighted that October 29th will be designated as a Day of National Mourning.

Today, a fire broke out at the Kostenko mine in the Karaganda region, resulting in casualties. As of 16:00, authorities have found the bodies of 32 deceased people, and the search for 14 miners is ongoing.
