Construction of the Chinese-Kazakh international industrial city has started on the reserve territory of Khorgos - Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone (SEZ), QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the SEZ.
Sino-Kazakhstan International Industrial City LLP has launched the first stage of construction on the territory of 200 hectares, which will include the building of engineering networks and the main street. Starting November 2023, investors will begin construction of the first stage facilities - administrative buildings and hotels outside the SEZ.
The purpose of the project is to create an industrial park, establish production and logistics services in the Khorgos - Eastern Gateway SEZ, as well as transfer industrial capacities from China to the territory of Kazakhstan in the framework of the PRC’s One Belt, One Road strategy, the state infrastructure development program Nurly Zhol, and the plan of cooperation on the conjugation of the New Economic Policy Nurly Zhol and the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of the PRC.
The cost of the project is estimated at 330 billion tenge.
The total area of the project is 1000 hectares. The project will create over 2,000 jobs for residents of nearby communities.
