Rescuers from Kazakhstan have departed to Afghanistan to assist in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that hit the country on October 7, QazMonitor reports.

A team of 45 rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, along with rescue dogs and handlers, have been dispatched to provide assistance in the rescue operations for people trapped under the rubble.

"Yesterday, we assembled the team, equipped everyone, set up cages, and called in those who were off-duty. Within an hour, we were ready," explained Dmitriy Denisov, the head rescuer of the Cynological Department of the Republican Operational Rescue Squad.

He further noted that it marks their second mission this year, with their previous mission taking place in Turkey.

Assisting in the rescue efforts are three trained dogs: Charlie (Labrador), Jacob (Belgian Shepherd), and Euro (Belgian Shepherd).

Previously, the government stated that “upon the instruction of the President, Kazakhstan will provide assistance to Afghanistan in mitigating the aftermath of the destructive earthquakes that struck Herat province on October 7 of this year."

This powerful earthquake in Afghanistan has tragically resulted in a death toll exceeding two thousand people.
