Finance Minister Yerulan Zhamaubayev explained how the bank will regulate the export ban on foreign currency.

"The issue of circulation, regulation, and issue of the national currency is the main job of the National Bank. There will be a limit of up to $10,000. We have no customs in the EAEC, so our customs authorities will not interfere here. But, we have the Border Service which will monitor the transactions. It is for certain that the authorities are competent and that the National Bank itself should get involved in the process"

In addition, there is a ban on the export of gold bars, refined gold at 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 grams, and investment coins made of gold ALTYN BARYS and silver KÚMIS BARYS, issued by the National Bank of Kazakhstan, as well as refined gold over 100 grams.

When will the estimated dollar exchange rate be reconsidered?

Finance Minister Erulan Zhamaubaev said that the estimated dollar exchange rate and inflation corridor in the national budget for 2022 will be reviewed within a week, reports Tengrinews.kz.

The head of the Ministry of Finance noted that at the moment the agency jointly with the National Bank is preparing to draft the national budget for the current year.

"The main parameters are the estimated dollar exchange rate and the inflation corridor. These issues will be discussed this week. We will know the figure only when we form the draft budget. I cannot say anything at the moment. One should forecast it in accordance to the National Bank, using the exchange rate and the growth rate of certain goods and services. It will be revealed in a week."

Prior to this, in August 2021, the former Minister of National Economy presented a baseline, as well as optimistic and pessimistic scenarios for the economy of Kazakhstan, based on which the government planned the budget for the coming year.

In the optimistic scenario, the dollar exchange rate was projected at ₸415. In the baseline scenario, ₸425. In the pessimistic scenario, ₸435.
