In the first half of 2023, tax revenue from tourism in Kazakhstan amounted to about ₸208 billion, marking a 10.4% increase over the same period last year (₸188.5 billion), QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
Moldir Abdualiyeva, the speaker of the ministry, noted that in 2022, the authorities recorded a record level of tax revenues, totaling ₸389 billion.
"Tax revenue from tourism activities significantly surpass pre-pandemic figures. In 2019, it totaled ₸200.5 billion, which is nearly half of last year's total. Additionally, the volume of services provided by domestic hotels is on the rise. In the first half of 2023 alone, the country's hotels provided service to tourists worth ₸98.7 billion, marking a 45% increase compared to the same period last year," added Abdualiyeva.
