The national women’s chess team concluded their run at the 2023 FIDE World Women's Team Championship in second place, losing to Team Georgia in the grand finals with scores of 1.5:2.5 in the first match and 0.5:3.5 in the second, QazMonitor reports citing the International Chess Federation.

September 5-12, the Polish city of Bydgoszcz attracted twelve strongest national women’s chess teams from all over the world – Bulgaria, China, Egypt, FIDE Americas, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Poland, Ukraine, and the US.

The first game between Amina Kairbekova and Lela Javakhishvili set the tone for the entire grand finals, as Georgian players managed to capitalize on their advantages more than the Kazakh players, who only managed draws over the course of the two matches.

Nevertheless, Team Kazakhstan, consisting of Amina Kairbekova, Alua Nurmanova, Assel Serikbay, Bibisara Assaubayeva, Meruert Kamalidenova, and Xeniya Balabayeva beat France and Germany during the tournament showing some impressive performances.
