Kazakhstan intends to leverage the capabilities of artificial intelligence and prioritize the development of the creative industry in joint projects with UNESCO, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On September 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Umarov met in Astana with Amir Piric, the Director of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office. The parties discussed projects aimed at enhancing the skills of educators in a digital and inclusive environment, as well as conducting research on water security issues.

Piric informed the Kazakh side about the ongoing transformation of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office into a Multisectoral Regional Office, which will cover several countries of the region.

The parties also discussed the activities of the Central Asian Regional Glaciological Center of Category 2 under the auspices of UNESCO, as well as issues related to the Pretashkent Transboundary Aquifer. The latter is a Kazakh-Uzbek project aimed at facilitating joint management and enhancing groundwater governance. The project focuses on improving coordination, scientific knowledge, livelihoods, economic development, and environmental sustainability of the shared aquifer.
