On September 1 in Astana, during his address to the people of Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to reestablish the Ministry of Transport, QazMonitor reports.

According to him, Kazakhstan should strengthen its position as a transit hub in Eurasia and gradually evolve into a fully-fledged transport and logistics powerhouse.

"The dynamic development of this sector is a strategic objective. The share of the transport and logistics sector in the GDP structure should reach at least 9% within the next three years. To achieve this goal, it is crucial to ensure effective management of the industry. The Ministry of Transport will be reestablished, and it will also oversee the construction of road infrastructure," said the President.
