Promoting Volunteerism: CICA Reviews Development Plans in Astana

The organization briefed member states on the current progress in priority areas of cooperation

On August 21-22, the Special Working Group and Senior Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held their regular meetings in Astana under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, QazMonitor reports citing the MFA’s press service.

During the meetings, the parties discussed the draft document outlining the implementation of confidence-building measures by the organization. Additionally, they reviewed the draft statement of the Ministerial Council regarding the promotion of volunteering for sustainable development. Furthermore, member states were briefed on the current progress in the priority areas of cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Senior Officials Committee decreed to approve the drafts of the Ministerial Council on a Road Map for CICA Transformation and on Promoting Volunteerism for Sustainable Development during an informal ministerial meeting in New York scheduled for September 21 of this year.

The organization also approved the mode of cooperation with Russia and China outlined in the 'Security and the use of information and communication technologies' program for 2024-2025.
