Kazakhstan will temporarily close a checkpoint on the border with China, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of the Ministry of Finance.

"Since the beginning of this year, as part of the project for the modernization and technical upgrade of checkpoints located on the Kazakhstan section of the customs border of the EAEU, the reconstruction of the Bakhty road checkpoint, situated on the Kazakhstan-China border, is underway.

According to the work schedule, from August 18 to 20, 2023, external water supply networks will be installed passing through the crossing point’s road.

Consequently, the committee notifies on the closure of the checkpoint "Bakhty" during the period from August 18 to 20, 2023, due to the impossibility of vehicle movement during the aforementioned work," the message stated on Tuesday.

SRC schedules to reopen the Bakhty checkpoint on August 21 for normal operations.
