Kazakh athletes won ten medals at the ISSF World Championship Juniors in Changwon, carrying the national bullseye shooting team to 5th place in the overall standings, QazMonitor reports citing the sport and physical education committee.
Running July 14-25, the Championship in the South Korean city of Changwon has attracted 600 athletes from 45 countries. Team Kazakhstan participated in three disciplines – rifle (women's), pistol (men's), and shooting at a running target (men's and women's).
In the individual program for shooting the running target at a 10-meter distance, Fatima and Zukhra Irnazarova won gold and bronze medals, respectively. Alexandra Saduakassova also stood out in the medal match in the same discipline bringing the team a bronze medal.
In the medal match for shooting at a running target from 10 meters, Assadbek Nazirkulyev brought the bronze for the men’s team.
Overall, Kazakh athletes have won four gold, four silver, and two bronze medal. The national team ranks fifth behind China, India, Ukraine, and South Korea.
