Team Kazakhstan Wins 2 Gold Medals at Jiu-Jitsu World Championship 2023

The national team currently ranks second in the medal standings

The fourth day of competitions at the 2023 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Ulaanbaatar concludes with the national team securing second place in the overall standings, QazMonitor reports.

On July 14-20, the capital of Mongolia is hosting the 20th edition of the World Championship, bringing together 327 athletes from 31 countries. The Kazakh national team has shown a solid performance, claiming second place in the team standings, trailing behind Germany and ahead of France.

Currently, the team has secured nine medals – two gold, two silver, and five bronze.

Two athletes led the national team to the top 3 – Zhenis Nurlybaev became the world champion in the under 56 kg category, securing gold in his bout with Sweden’s Hadiha Arash Mehdi, while Zhanibek Abu-Bakir (under 62 kg) clinched the top spot on the podium before Colombia’s Viviescas Jairo Alejandro.
