On June 25, the culture ministries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed to facilitate the passage of tourists across the border and establish joint film production, QazMonitor reports.

Askhat Oralov, the minister of culture and sport, said in a Facebook post that during the meeting in Tashkent with his counterpart, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, the minister of culture and sports of Uzbekistan, the parties agreed to implement several joint projects in cinematography.

"We discussed the implementation of joint projects in the field of cinema, including the joint production of films, the distribution of our movies, as well as the broadcast of domestic TV shows in the neighboring country and vice versa," said Oralov.

Nazarbekov proposed organizing a mutual exchange of data on the incoming tourist flow between the countries. In turn, the Kazakh side proposed discussing the creation of special conditions for the unimpeded passage of tour buses at the land border crossings.

Additionally, they also suggested including several more cities in Kazakhstan, namely Taraz, Turkistan, and Aktau, in the One Tour – The Whole Region program – a regional tourism development initiative launched by the Uzbek government. Presently, the list includes Almaty, Astana, and Shymkent.
