The national football team has made history by defeating Northern Ireland 1:0 in a qualifying match for the UEFA Euro 2024 in Belfast, UK, QazMonitor reports citing the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
Throughout the majority of the match, both teams tested each other's defenses, resulting in a stalemate until the very end. It was at the 89th minute when Abat Aymbetov scored the match's only goal. Playing in the forward position, he came on as a substitute just eight minutes prior.
In Group H standings, Kazakhstan now has nine points and is currently stands at the second place, trailing group leader Finland solely on goal difference. Denmark and Slovenia hold the third and fourth spots with seven points each, respectively, while Northern Ireland ranks fifth with three points. San Marino ranks last, as the team has lost all of the matches so far.
