Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has arrived in Astana on a state visit at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the prime minister.
Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov greeted the high-ranking guest at the Astana International Airport. It is expected that the heads of the two states will hold talks on strengthening the Kazakh-German strategic partnership, following which a number of bilateral documents will be signed.
President Steinmeier will address the forum of provosts from Kazakh and German universities and will also participate in the Kazakh-German business forum along with President Tokayev.
Additionally, Steinmeier will visit the Mangystau region, where he will take part in the opening ceremony of the Kazakh-German Institute of Engineering and the launch of test drilling at the green hydrogen plant of the Swedish-German company Svevind.
