President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his congratulations to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) presidential candidate, on his re-election in the run-off of the presidential elections in Turkiye, QazMonitor reports.
On May 28, the Turkish Republic held the second round of the 2023 presidential elections, featuring the incumbent president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the AK Party, and the opposition leader, Kemal Kilicdaroglu of the Republican People's Party.
It is reported that over 53 million people cast their votes in the run-off, and with 52.16% of the votes, Erdogan become the president of Turkiye for the third consecutive term, surpassing his opponent's 47.84%.
President Tokayev expressed his congratulations to the colleague on Twitter.
"Congratulations to Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his well-deserved victory in the second round of the presidential elections in Turkiye! Our countries are united by the bonds of historical friendship and solidarity. This comprehensive cooperation strategy will be further developed," he wrote.
