Due to the serious floods that hit the Emilia-Romagna region and claimed many lives, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had to return to Italy from the G7 Summit in Hiroshima ahead of schedule, to travel to the disaster-affected areas, QazMonitor reports citing the RK President's spokesman Ruslan Zheldibay.
"According to reports, at least 40 settlements in northern Italy were underwater and more than 20,000 people were left homeless. For this reason, the previously announced working visit of the head of the Italian Government to Astana will not take place. The Italian party asked to have a phone conversation between the President and Giorgio Meloni," said Ruslan Zheldibay.
Earlier it was planned that President Tokayev will meet with the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgio Meloni on May 22.
