On May 17, the Kazakh government decreed a ban on the export of ammonium nitrate and ammophos-based fertilizers, reserving the exclusive right to export these types of fertilizers only to domestic producers, QazMonitor reports citing the prime minister's press service.

This measure aims to combat the export of subsidized products outside the country during the spring field season when the government provides a 50% cost coverage for fertilizers to domestic agricultural enterprises. At the same time, resellers also take advantage of the low prices, which leads to a provision decrease of domestic agrarians.

Thus, customs authorities are recording the facts of the export of subsidized fertilizers of Kazakh origin by any market entities other than producers. During the season, the regional bodies will prioritize meeting the needs of local agrarians.

In line with this decision, the government plans to develop a number of regulatory acts regulating the licensing procedure. The ministry of industry and infrastructural development will be responsible for issuing these licenses.
