Kazakhstan to Implement 36 Industrial Projects Worth ₸‎230B in 2023

In 2022, the output of the mechanical engineering sector reached ₸‎3.1 trillion

The ministry of industry and infrastructural development reports the share of mechanical engineering in the domestic industrial sector reached 6%, amounting to 1.5% of Kazakhstan’s GDP, QazMonitor reports citing Central Communications Service.

Ilyas Ospanov, the vice minister of industry and infrastructural development, stated that there are 3,800 mechanical engineering enterprises throughout the country employing 116,000 people. In 2022, the industry's output reached ₸‎3.1 trillion, showing a 31% growth y/y, greatly contributed by the launch of 250 investment projects that same year.

Preliminary data for the first three months of this year shows the sector becoming one of the industry leaders, with an estimated growth of 135%. Production grew by 36%, with the volume reaching ₸‎829 billion.

"Additionally, there are 36 projects planned to be implemented in the industry in 2023, worth about ₸230 billion. 'These projects include a cast iron foundry for truck components, a plant for producing wind turbine towers, a household appliances plant, an oil equipment plant, and the production of mobile drilling rigs, among others," said Ospanov.
