After more than three years of downtime, the Khorgos International Center for Border Cooperation resumes operations on the Kazakh-Chinese border starting April 24, QazMonitor reports citing the center’s press service.

The center is a joint project established within the framework of Kazakhstan’s Nurly Zhol economic policy and China’s Belt and Road Initiative. By granting economic incentives and exemptions on its premises, the Khorgos aims to foster bilateral trade and integrate its commercial operations into the global economy.

Closed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020, the center is relaunching its stay program that allows citizens of Kazakhstan, China, and third parties to stay at the center without the necessary visas for up to 30 days.
