The national company Kazakh Tourism and the national carrier Air Astana intend to sign a business agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on the promotion of bilateral tourism, QazMonitor reports citing FNTimes.

The parties are set to sign an agreement during the 21st Kazakhstan International Exhibition in Almaty, which is currently ongoing from April 19-21. This agreement will be a part of KTO's larger plan to strengthen its marketing efforts in Central and Southeast Asia, which have recently become strongholds for medical tourism to the country.

Prior to the pandemic, Kazakhstan played a crucial role in the medical tourism market to Korea, with an average of 13,000 Kazakh people traveling to the country every year for medical tourism.

Seeking to address the decline following the pandemic, the KTO together with the ministry of culture, sports and tourism of South Korea will hold a three-day medical tourism event in Almaty on November 21-23. This event will be a part of the Visit Korea Year 2023-2024 program and will focus on actively marketing renewed tourism to the country.
