The European Commission has included Kazakh fishing companies in the list of enterprises with the right to export their products to the European Union, QazMonitor reports.
The Ministry of Agriculture received a letter sent by the EC confirming its restored faith in the quality control of Kazakhstan’s veterinary system.
Earlier, the ministry had sent a report detailing how the local industry had implemented the EC's list of recommendations on veterinary control, which was given by the EC during an audit of fishing companies in 2018.
As of today, 17 Kazakh fishing companies have been added to the EU register.
Also as part of the effort to strengthen ties with Kazakhstan through trade, the EC sent inquiries on honey, which could be exported to the European market in the future.
Kazakhstan has continuously expressed interest in becoming a supplier of high-quality organic food to the EU. During an official visit to Brussels, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev gave a presentation on Kazakhstan’s export potential in meat, dairy, poultry, and fish products to the EC.
