Digital ministry plans to negotiate with Sony Interactive Entertainment on lifting the regional restriction of the PlayStation Network (PSN) in Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports.
Following the war in Ukraine, the multinational digital entertainment company ceased all operations in Russia in March 2022.
The suspension affected console users from Kazakhstan and Central Asia, who had to create accounts that were regionally set to Russia. Currently, PSN users in Kazakhstan are not able to purchase games in the PlayStation Store via bank cards or any other local payment systems.
Digital Minister Bagdat Mussin said on the margins of a government meeting that the digital ministry plans to instruct the Kazakh embassy in Japan this week to initiate in-person negotiations with Sony representatives regarding the issue of regional access.
The Kazakh side claims to have already sent several requests to the company and is yet to receive a response.
