The U.S. removed the former Kazakh subsidiary of Sberbank, Bereke Bank, from the sanctions list of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), QazMonitor reports citing the U.S. Department of Treasury.
OFAC updated the list of specially designated nationals (SDN), which names people, organizations, and ships with whom U.S. citizens and permanent residents are not allowed to do business.
Earlier, Bereke Bank chairman Andrei Timchenko said it was expecting the U.S. authorities to lift sanctions as early as March.
