China to Open Luban Workshop in Kazakhstan to Train Tech Specialists

The program will initially offer mechanical engineering at East Kazakhstan Technical University

D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University and the Tianjin Vocational University signed a memorandum of cooperation and mutual understanding on March 2, QazMonitor reports.

The agreement establishes a training program for technology specialists called Luban Workshop in Kazakhstan.

Luban Workshop is a Chinese project in the field of professional education named after the famous Chinese master and inventor Lu Ban, who lived 2.5 thousand years ago.

The purpose of the project is to assist foreign technical educational institutions in training qualified personnel through the joint establishment of vocational education centers. To date, there are 26 Luban Workshops in 21 countries around the world.

The program in Kazakhstan will start training in the sphere of mechanical engineering with the use of advanced Chinese technologies and equipment. In the future, the universities will include specialization in electric cars, 3D printing, and production automation, among others.
