The State Revenue Committee shared statistics related to the import of flowers to Kazakhstan in early 2023, QazMonitor reports.
In January and February, Kazakhstan imported a total of 1,341 tons or 24.6 million pieces of buds worth $9.5 million (calculations use the operational data for February 2023).
Here is the ranking for top three most sold types of flowers in 2023:
Roses – 799 tons or 18 million pieces of buds, worth $5.8 million
Chrysanthemums – 134 tons or 2.4 million buds, worth $1.3 million
Carnations – 31 tons or 922.7 million buds, worth $161,000
Lilies have also been popular this year (35 tons imported worth $192,000), while other fresh cut flowers and buds (tulip, hydrangeas, linoleum, gypsophila, phoenix, iris, hydrangea and other exotic flowers) were imported weighing 376.8 tons and worth $2.2 million.
This year, flowers were imported from Ecuador (769 tons), Netherlands (268 tons), Colombia (137 tons), Kenya (108 tons), Israel (16 tons), Uzbekistan (14 tons), China (13 tons) and Turkey (6 tons).
