National postal service Kazpost will open a new hub at Aliya Moldagulova International Airport in Aktobe, QazMonitor reports.
According to the press service of the Aktobe Akimat, this will significantly speed up the processing of airmail, which is especially important given the growing popularity of online shopping among Kazakh citizens.
"The hub will cover not only the Aktobe region but also all the western regions of our country. Thanks to this project, the delivery time of postal items will be significantly reduced," said Eraly Tugzhanov, Akim of Aktobe.
Board chair of Kazpost Asel Zhanasova said the terminal will be equipped with modern sorting equipment.
"Today, the frequency of purchases via the Internet is steadily increasing, and with it the number of parcels sent. This is a global trend that is also relevant for Kazakhstan. In order to improve the service we are planning to build terminal hubs in the airports of Astana, Almaty, and Aktobe,” she said.
Aktobe region is the first in Kazakhstan to implement this type of project, the chair added.
“After the hub opens, the delivery time of goods from abroad, for example from the U.S., Germany, and China, will be reduced from 45 to 10 days."
