Akimat of Turkistan announced the construction of a tourist complex with artisan workshops in the city center, QazMonitor reports.
The new project was discussed at a meeting chaired by Darkhan Satybaldy, akim of Turkistan Region.
The complex is estimated to be around 9,000 square meters. The workshops will be used to create national handicrafts and teach visitors how to make them.
Project planners also created outlines for the construction of hotels and restaurants, exhibition spaces, and showrooms in the area.
"The potential of artisans in Turkistan is enormous. The project of the new town, which will be located in the center of Turkestan, is unique,” said Satybaldy.
“In the future, it will create more jobs and develop tourism through the support of artisans.”
The purpose of the artisan town is not only to attract tourists and develop businesses but also to preserve culture and heritage, the Akimat press added.
