World’s no. 10 Elena Rybakina passed the first round of the 2023 Dubai Tennis Championship in the UAE, QazMonitor reports.
She met with the representative of Canada and the 2019 U.S. Open champion Bianca Andreescu and won in two sets with a score of 6:3, 6:4. The match lasted an hour and thirty minutes.
Rybakina scored six aces and made one double fault during the game.
A month prior, the Kazakh player reached the finals of the 2023 Australian Open but lost to the Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 4:6, 6:3, 6:4.
Currently, Rybakina holds the title of 2022 Wimbledon Champion.
