President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to send humanitarian aid to Syria through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, QazMonitor reports.

The earthquakes that devastated the southern provinces of Turkiye and took over 16,000 lives on Monday had also swept through the northwestern governorates of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, and Tartous.

A day ago, the head of state issued an order to allocate $1 million in humanitarian support to Turkiye.

Today, Minister of emergency situations Yuri Ilyin briefed President Tokayev on the current situation and the efforts of the Kazakh emergency team in the search and rescue of victims in the disaster zones.

The team sent to the city of Gaziantep has rescued four survivors so far. In addition, a group of rescuers and a canine unit arrived in the city of Hatay this morning to search for missing Kazakh citizens in the area.
