President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered the government to allocate $1 million in humanitarian support to Turkiye, QazMonitor reports.

Two earthquakes occurred along the Turkish-Syrian border on February 6, causing widespread destruction and a high number of casualties.

The most affected areas are the Turkish provinces of Kahramanmaras, Adıyaman, Kilis, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Malatya, Diyarbakır, Adana, Hatay, and Sanlıurfa as well as Syrian governorates of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, and Tartous.

In Turkiye, the authorities say the natural disaster has affected the lives of more than 13.5 million people. At the moment, both countries have confirmed the deaths of over 9,000 people.

Earlier, Kazakhstan dispatched an emergency rescue team and medical aid to the city of Gaziantep.
