Brazilian sports journalist Wilson Baldini Jr. tweeted that Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin has refused to defend his IBF (International Boxing Federation) champion title, QazMonitor reports.

"GGG gave up the IBF title. How's that, Falcao?" Wilson posted on Twitter.

Brazil’s Esquiva Falcao is the mandatory challenger for Golovkin and his IBF champion title.

The IBF has not made any official statement regarding Golovkin’s withdrawal. If the Kazakh boxer did indeed turn down the title, Falcao will have to fight another opponent for the spot.

Besides holding the IBF title, Golovkin is the also the IBO and WBA Super world champion.
