President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to send emergency assistance to Turkiye in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake in the city of Gaziantep that killed over 900 people, QazMonitor reports.
Kazakh search and rescue team and doctors will be dispatched to the affected regions at the request of the Turkish authorities, reads the message by the Akorda press service.
According to ABC News, 45 countries have offered help already as dozens of aftershocks continue to occur.
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit southeast Turkiye and northern Syria early on Monday. Hundreds were killed in the two countries, thousands were injured and the toll is expected to rise further.
Earlier, President Tokayev sent a telegram of condolence to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
