The Ministry of Energy plans to extend the export ban on certain petroleum products from Kazakhstan for another 4 months, QazMonitor reports.

Gasoline and diesel fuel are among the products blocked by the draft order, which will be publicly discussed until January 31.

Products excluded from the ban may include lubricating oils, liquid fuels, oil products in gasoline tanks provided by vehicle manufacturers, and samples of jet engine fuel that are subject to review and authorization.

The explanatory note to the draft order states that this move will not require additional funds from the state budget and does not contain any “anticipated consequences”. If the draft order is adopted, it will be put into effect ten calendar days after its first official publication.

Last time, the ban by road transport was introduced on July 12, 2022, for a period of six months.

The Energy Ministry previously noted that the ban is necessary in order to ensure the stability and sustainability of the national economy and to prevent shortages of petroleum products in the domestic market of the country.
