Kazakhstan’s no.1 Elena Rybakina defeated Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko and advanced to the semifinals, QazMonitor reports citing Informburo.
The quarterfinals match ended with the Kazakh player claiming victory over her opponent with the score of 6:2, 6:4. Rybakina hit eleven aces and made three double faults to Ostapenko’s one ace and one double fault.
On January 26, Rybakina will play the winner of the match between Jessica Pegula and Victoria Azarenka.
Earlier, she knocked out world no.1 Iga Swiatek in two sets in a bout to reach the quarterfinals.
