As China curbs its Covid-19 cases, the country may soon simplify the process of obtaining a visa for citizens of Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Kazakh Ambassador to China Shakhrat Nuryshev met with Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu to discuss a whole range of issues related to Kazakh-Chinese cooperation.

The talk placed special emphasis on smoothing cooperation at the Kazakh-Chinese border checkpoints.

Mr. Nuryshev shared his hopes for “restoring the number of flights between Kazakhstan and China to the pre-pandemic level” and “simplifying the PRC visa regime for Kazakh citizens”.

The ambassador also suggested the Chinese side coordinate the drafting of bilateral documents ahead of the official visits and events that are scheduled between the two countries this year.

In turn, Mr. Ma noted the importance of the issues raised and expressed the readiness of the Chinese side to actively cooperate with them. He also said that the Chinese Foreign Ministry is ready for close cooperation with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in China in order to successfully organize the events planned for this year.
